Reviews for HOOP DWEEBS

Hoop Dweebs is funny and irreverent, yet captures the essence of college basketball. If you’re a fan of hoops, like I am, then you need to read this book.
George Karl, Head Coach, NBA Denver Nuggets

Before joining the NBA, I coached at the Division III level for nine years. Hoop Dweebs, is the most accurate portrayal of coaching at that level I have ever read. It’s a fun read, with colorful characters, many of who remind me of the guys I coached. I found myself laughing throughout the book. If you’re a sports fan, you need to read Bobby’s book.
Jim Todd, Assistant Coach, NY Knicks

Hoop Dweebs reminds me of my days at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. We had to travel to the States to play most of our games, which fostered the great team chemistry so evident in this book. I enjoy stories about underdogs who have to overcome hardships to triumph, no matter whether they succeed or fail. If you’re a basketball fan of any kind, you’ll really like Hoop Dweebs.
Jay Triano, Assistant Coach, Portland Trailblazers

As a female, and a casual sports fan, I normally wouldn't read a book of this nature. I prefer mystery or adventure but the title intrigued me. And I’m glad I did. I know women will enjoy reading Hoop Dweebs every bit as much the men. On a softer note, it tugs at your heartstrings like the movie Rudy, because you get to know the players, coaches and their goals. I got so into it I felt like I was the team’s biggest fan and found myself pulling for them to win it all! Kudos to the author!

I read Hoop Dweebs the other day and I was impressed with how true the narration and the characters were. There is a lot of humor, because the characters are real people. While there is a good amount of technical language, you don't have to be a basketball guru to figure what is going on. There is some personality conflicts and a bit of a romance of forbidden love, but the basketball games, players, and coaches are the real story. This is one of the best sport books I have read, and certainly my favorite book about basketball!

Bob has done a tremendous job of capturing the inner dynamics of what it means to be part of a basketball team. Whether you have played or not this book is an entertaining look at what happens when a team goes through an entire seasons. The highs, the lows and all the emotions are there.
Paul Jones, Radio Voice of the Toronto Raptors

Hoop Dweebs is a great read about a down on his luck basketball coach and his team, who possess average athletic talent but above average intelligence. I enjoyed following them on their quest to become one of the best Division III teams in the nation.

I read your book in less than 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only was it something I could connect with, it was well written and moved very well. From story line to story line it was excellent. I am sharing it with friends and can’t wait to see the movie.

I read Hoop Dweebs last November and really enjoyed it. It reminded so much of the schools in and around Milwaukee. I liked the relationship the coach had with his team, friends, & family. I agree it did tug at my heartstrings, but for the whole team, not just one player. It reminded me of movies like Remember the Titians or The Replacements.

My only time to read is at bedtime and normally, when I'm reading, I fall asleep after one paragraph. However, once I started Hoop Dweebs, I stayed up wayyyyy too late.

Reviews for 8th Mayan Prophecy

I finished reading your book, The 8th Mayan Prophecy. I found the story fascinating, exciting, and was thoroughly entertained with the fact it took place in Wisconsin. I'm a big fan of Dan Brown and Harry Potter. I enjoyed your book for many of the reasons I like their books. I can't wait for you next one, to see what adventures Nick & his friends will get into. I also purchased all three of your short stories. They gave me a more in depth understanding of your main characters and I enjoyed getting to now them better.
I have recommended your book to friends and gave copies to my nephews. Now, I feel it should be required reading for our entire class, so we can discuss it at our next reunion.

If you are a fan of Dan Brown or Steve Barry you will enjoy The 8th Mayan Prophecy. So many chapters end with a cliffhanger; it made me excited and eager to keep turning the pages. If you want a book that you can read for an escape and entertainment, The 8th Mayan Prophecy is just the thing for you. I’m eager to know where Nick’s next great adventure will take him and his friends.

I really, really enjoyed this book. It was similar to reading a Dan Brown book with interesting facts intertwined in the story that made me think- is that for real? I need to know what happens next.

I've read the complete Harry Potter series twice and have been looking for the next big series to fill that space. If the rest of the series is as good as the first book I will have found it.

The 8th Mayan Prophecy is a fascinating adventure story that really makes the reader feel they are a part of the quest. The detail that the author puts into describing the scenes throughout the book made it seems that I was right there. I can’t wait for the next book.

The 8th Mayan Prophecy was a fantastic read! The book is full of suspense and a real page turner. What I liked most about the book was it made think and I was never sure what was going to happen next. As I reader, I like to read about sports, history and sci-fi and this story fit those interests! Overall, a great story and if you are looking for a fun book to read I highly recommend the 8th Mayan Prophecy.

Robert Peterson's debut novel hooks readers from the opening lines, sweeping them up into a world of bad guys, mysterious texts, and animal spirits. Eighth Mayan Prophecy is a book about self-discovery and friendship: it's exactly the type of book I would encourage my middle grade students to pick up and read.
